T Cobe, I assume you ran a cable to the back of the room?? Has anyone tried the wireless gizmo's that allow a rear sub without running a wire? I will have to use a cable about 50 feet long.......

Thanks,
DT

Yes, they work, sort of, but they all have delay (not a good thing at subwoofer frequencies), add noise, and reduce gain (obviously adjusting the volume control on the sub fixes that issue). They are also all prone to interference from things like microwave ovens and digital broadcasting devices (like wifi routers and signal boosters).

I've often wondered what the downside would be of running wireless. I assumed there were issues. Right now I am running a wire.

Moderator Dude, are there downsides to wireless HDMI as well?

Cheers,

T Cobe

Sorry, no experience. HDMI is the devil's connection anyway, can't imagine how wireless could make it any better.

Just got the wallmounts. Looking at Sandy's tips the Aon 2 units are recommended "as wide as possible" and toed in to listener.

Just wanted to confirm that being the best strategy form my desk listening environment. that would place them considerably wider than my distance from the wall. My distance to the wall being about 4 feet, but max distance between speakers would place them about 12.

It is tough to "mock up" the install so just looking for the best starting point for my setup. Sub is under my desk and will be dead center to both speakers.

I cant imagine how incredibly problematic a wireless HDMI connection would be!! Lots of protocol going on under the data stream, drop a few frames and the AV will start to skip and have digital artifacts. I was worried about delay in the wireless option. Now days there is so much RF in our midst any weak link will have issues. Guess its a long cable........ I need to see what the cable MAX length is for an analog signal from a sub-out. Anyone know????

Enjoy,
DT
