Hey Miamifins,
Bro Rick advised you EXACTLY correctly above!!!!! He knows what he is talking about.
The T 2s are a fantastic speaker, and if you get an XL or better center speaker, you will REALLY have a good system.
And YES, you could improve that system some more by upgrading to a better receiver.
A better sub and better surround speakers are all places you could improve.
BUT most of us are like you, we do not have the money to splurge and just buy any and everything we want. Believe me, wish I could!!!!!
So make a plan and buy this part now and upgrade more later, do the best at setting up what you have now, it will all come together and give you many hours of listening pleasure along the way as well.
Enjoy the ride,
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.

Thanks for the help. I had my center at 120, then 100, then 80 that seems to have the less distortion. I never noticed any problem with the rear speakers. The only reason they are set to large was when I was listening to the old DTS and 5.1 cd's. The way they are set (large) gives them the optimal "balance" This is only a small percentage of my listening time, though. Next day off I will try adding sub lines to the Tritons. Only question, since the receiver has only two LFE/sub outputs. Would it cause any problem splitting it up that many times? One output for the 2 Tritons and one output for the rear sub, which is now using both sub outputs. I may try using the lines to the Tritons only and see if that changes anything (sorry, thinking out loud) Again, I love the base as it is, I just dont have the "bam" The base it more..polite, for the lack of a better term. It does not shake my couch like with the extra sub. The sub is next to the couch so that may be the reason.

I just set all 4 rears to small. I'll see if that changes anything.
Thanks again! Your advice is greatly appreciated. Happy fathers day to all out there!

Hi again

If your Yamaha sub has two LFE input jacks, you really only need to use one. LFE is a mono signal. Do the jacks have L and R labels? You could probably use one LFE line in to either. Which model do you have? Your manual should give you LFE hook-up options.

Each sub out is sending the exact same signal (except for whatever gain volume adjustments you make in the receiver).

Re splitting one LFE line with a Y splitter, to feed both Tritons, there's very little signal loss doing that. It's the amps in the receiving subs that are doing the work. I don't know which model Yamaha sub you have, but I'm guessing it doesn't have the amp power of the 1,200 w bass amps in each of the Triton 2's. Feeding LFE to both the Tritons and the Yamaha will give you more of the bass "bam" you're looking for, and three LFE bass sources for good distribution.

Good luck with your testing!

Rick
