Greetings:

I am installing rear Atmos speakers to give me a 4 channel Atmos setup. My front speakers already installed are HTR 7000's. I cut the ceiling holes for the rear HTR 7000's but found a pipe running through one of the holes so speaker will not fit. The pipe seems to run the width of the room so moving speakers left or right not an option. If I move forward to the next ceiling joist cavity it will be 16 inches forward. This is too far forward as the 30 degree tweeter angle will be firing forward of mlp. If I move back 16 inches I am getting close to rear surrounds so not an ideal position. Needless to say symmetry with front atmos speakers will be an issue.

I was looking at the Invisa 650 with pivotal tweeter as an alternative for rear atmos speakers. If I install rear speakers forward & aim tweeter at mlp does this work ie can I mix HTR 7000's & Invisa 650 together & get a good atmos result or do I need all 4 atmos speakers to be the same?

Appreciate your help

Just rethinking this again. I can perhaps position rear speakers back to next joist about 10 inches further back assuming no more surprises back there. I can then use HTR 7000's as intended. I would then simply push back front row of seats back to compensate. It may not be perfectly symmetrical but perhaps a better solution.

Hey Dwight

Sounds like a good plan. Now probably a moot point but, mixing Invisa 7000's and 650's as height speaker pairs also doesn't seem to me to be a problem. I have 7000's as top fronts, 525's as top rears, and they play together completely seamlessly. I wouldn't mix different speaker BRANDS, but all GEt's play well together. 7000's need to be positioned some more outboard than 525's or 650's, but the resultant sound field is always seamless.

Happy listening!

Should be good, yes. You can mix but the "aimable" aspect of the 650 would not accomplish the same thing and would require they be mounted more or less directly over the listening are - which of course we suggest only for rooms with taller ceilings.
