Sorry if redundant, new to forum, take delivery of 1R's next week.

Room is 12x16x8

1R's will be powered by PrimaLuna evo-300 Integrated Amp.
System is for music only

What speaker wire recommended for this combo? I've heard the 1R's are a bit "dark" at the top, however, my room is on the bright side of neutral. so...... I've been told Nordost Heimel2, audioquest, Cardas Thoughts? Thanks

Welcome, mlapenta!

Great combination of amp and speakers you've chosen!

Ha. You've asked a question that may get a range of answers, from speaker cable doesn't make a difference, to how some brands are best.

My humble input:

Yes, speaker cables do make a difference. But what pleases you most will in part depend on your listening preferences and room conditions (never heard the 1.R's or any other GEt speaker described as a bit dark at the top before though, I would describe the top end as sweet, but not harsh or hard).

Does your dealer have some speaker cables you could audition?

I have a Nordost Heimdall 2 power cord on my source, and love how natural and sweet it sounds. Don't know how that translates to their speaker cables (have Signal Ultra speaker cables for the fronts and center), but find the Nordost line pricey but so natural sounding.

Don't know as you've named a bad choice among the brands you've named. Listen if you can to options and see what works best for you.

Happy listening. You're gonna' love that system!

rjohn79395 is right, you will get a range of answers from speaker cable doesn't make a difference, to how some brands are best.

I use Belden 5T00UP (Gray jacket, 10 AWG) bought from www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/index.htm

Hi mlapenta!

I can tell you that speaker cables do make a difference, having walked my way through much of the Morrow line. I'm now running Audience Au24-SX cables, which are kind of expensive, depending on how you define expensive. I have toyed with the idea of going to different cables just to explore.

Underwood HiFi has just introduced a new line of cables that are claimed to be very good for the cost. You might check them out. I haven't tried them yet, so I can't testify.

Good luck on your quest!

Guess what, more humble opinion time. Does speaker wire make an audible difference? Yes, but not as much as power cords and tube rolling does.

I'm using Morrow Audio SP6...recommended 400-500 hours break-in (I'll be 137 when break-in is finished)

Also using AntiCable Level 3.1
Mapleshade Double Helix plus version
Military Copper/Silver 10 gauge
Clarity Cable from Wichita Kansas

Each speaker cable has its plus and minus...that's why I have many different varieties.
Like my Dad says...Variety is the Spice of Life.
Decware Zen Torii mk4 > McIntosh MC152 > Emotiva xpa1 Mono's > Anthem Statement P2 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Morrow Audio > Oppo 205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference

Every great performance deserves an Audience!
