I am setting up a new Home theater. The screen will be 110" and the amp and Pre Amps will be Marantz (8077, 7055 & 7066). In total it will have 12 channels. I want an ATMOS sysem. So far I am putting togther

Triton 1R (Fronts)
Golden Ear 60C (center channel)
Invisa 650 (4 for ceiling Speakers)
SuperSat 3 - 4 for side and rear speakers
Sony VPL-VW695 Projector

This will be controlled by a Congtrol4 system

The theater room is 13' wide by 22' long by 7 1/2' ceilings

A couple of questions

1) Would you recommend switching the 60C for Supercenter XL
2) Is there any other recommendations for the system as described

Thanks,

Scott

Hi, Scott

First, congrats on choosing GoldenEar speakers. You'll love the seamless sound field they create.

Not sure what room you have in your budget for options, but some thoughts. First, I assume you'll connect LFE to the 1.R fronts and run them full range. They will be your primary source of bass in your system as described. Second, with SuperSat 3's in side and rear surrounds, crossed at 120 Hz probably, you may find you want some more bass presence from those positions. I don't know how important bass slam is to your listening preferences, but it can add impact to lots of scenes. And adding bass presence could be anything from choosing Aons instead, for instance, for side surrounds that could be crossed at 80 HZ, to adding a small sub in back.

Re the center channel, yes a SuperCenter would give you more heft at center also.

But any choice you make, including installing the system exactly as you describe, you'll have an amazing surround system.

Happy listening!

Hi Rick,

I am assuming when you say adding a LFE that you mean a sub. I was relying on the subs in the 1R for the room but if you do not think that is enough then easy enough to add a separate sub.

switching to AON might be an issue since we are limited on space and wanted a speaker that could hang. thats why we chose the Super Sat 3 although I love the idea of Bass Slam. We could add a small sub in the back of the room. Any other suggestions?

I will let our surround sound people to switch over to the Super Center. I am assuming you think the XL are the better choice for the system?

Thanks for you help

Super excited to get the system connected up

Hi Scott

Re LFE, I was referring to adding LFE leads to the 1.R's, and setting the pre as full range on the 1.R's, sub on. That usually is the best setting to make best use of the bass potential in powered Tritons.

Yes, a SuperCenter will add more heft in that critical channel.

And since you are limited to on wall SuperSats, adding a sub in back would definitely give more bass slam from those speaker positions, and you could control that via a separate LFE lead from the second sub out in the Marantz pre. But most of us build our systems over time as we fine tune what we are hearing and what we would like to add for sound effects. So waiting to hear how it sounds to you without a sub in back is a perfectly OK place to start also. It's what works for your ears that counts. I like the effect of bass slam, and like that to include the full sound envelope, front to back. But this is your system, and what pleases you is what counts.

Have fun!

Rick
