Thanks for the top-tip! Alas, I was covering the small area in front of the gloss top on both my Ones and my Sevens. I have adjusted the ball caps accordingly to uncover those top frontal areas.

What was I affecting when I had the top front of the speakers covered?

Thanks,

Art

That opening on the top is part of the "secret sauce" that helps create the large soundstage, great imaging and "airy" quality to the presentation from the powered Triton models. That said, I imagine some of the sound got past the ball caps anyway.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if some of the sound is reflecting off the inside of the metal grill that is under the sock and is being shot up out the top...

Certainly sounds that way, and my whole ceiling is one large acoustic treatment so I'm probably losing some of that effect.

No reflecting. It is what many would call "boxless" (think of speakers with tweeters outside the cabinet as an implementation comparison for this design aspect).

No, you're not, the impact of this design is not the sonic result of ceiling reflections.

My, my, this discussion has evolved a bit, hasn't it? I merely wanted to suggest how to spruce up the Triton's look with some color and now we're talking room reflections. Glad I didn't posit something more esoteric or we might be into quantum physics by now!

One of the interesting aspects of topics on this forum is that they will not infrequently morph into new territory. Some of the comments will be frivolous (Triton One Alabama Caps not included, of course), while other comments will represent weightier thoughts and observations. There are a wide range of personalities represented on the forum and there is a broad spectrum of audio gear and numerous different listening-environments in play (pun intended).

Hooray!!
