My "Social Planner" has been my life's companion for over 51 wonderful years. She simply says that I am still a work in progress.

I am blessed to have her.

Happy New Year 2016 to everybody and......

Happy Listening to All,

Art,

I kid, but the truth is I'd be lost without her. She's the love of my life and my best friend. I think we're all works in progress... Happy New Year to you and yours as well.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Well, I made it to the theater to see The Force Awakens the day after Christmas. I have to say, I enjoyed the film very much. It felt a lot more like episodes 4-6 than episodes 1-3.

I read that JJ Abrams used 35mm film to capture the video on this film to make it feel more like the original films. I was worried this would make for a bad picture; however, it looked amazing. Some critiqued the film for being too much like episode IV, but I feel Abrams and crew were attempting to keep it authentic and to me, give a nod of respect to George Lucas. That may be the optimist in me but I prefer to see it that way than they just went with a formulaic approach for an easy payday.

The sound was a bit less impressive but I have felt that way about the theater I went to on most films. The bass was weak and I impactful. The surround speakers were nearly to the ceiling, which detracted from the Atmos experience due to lack of separation. Lastly, the sound was just thin. Almost like skim milk compared to the whole milk with a GET home theater.

I won't include any spoilers here but many of the quibbles that I read on-line are valid but overstated. I definitely recommend this film. If you are a Star Wars fan, I find it hard to believe you wouldn't enjoy the movie. Abrams did a great job re-setting the franchise back the the feel of original films. I am confident he will create a whole new generation of Star Wars fans with these latest installments.

Cheers,

T Cobe

Yep, I'm with you, great movie. Perfect blend of new and old. If you are a fan of the series, and a fan of JJ Abrams, I can't imagine how you couldn't love this movie. I saw it in Imax 3D (I prefer 2D but it wasn't available in Imax), reserved seats from two weeks ago so I could get the right seats, fantastic in all regards. Can't wait to get it on Blu Ray for the home theater to hear what the audio is really all about too.
