Thank you. Any that you would recommend? Emotiva has a 30 day trial period. Should I just get a 3-channel amp or a 7 channel to power all the speakers?

wesg92, good questions and of course we can only offer opinions based on our experiences and prejudices.
Yes, I think Marantz is better than Denon. Yes, I think a separate amp is better than amps built into a receiver.
BUT, I think the biggest bang for your buck would be in a speaker upgrade.
AND IF you could swing it, I would go with the T 2+s, they are way more speaker than the T 3s IMHO and only a little bit larger.
Of course it is up to you, pls let us know what you decide.
Have fun with it, happy listening,
God Bless,
Wayne

Hi, Wes
Re your question about what AVR I’d recommend (you’d no doubt get a whole range of opinions on that question!), I like my Marantz SR7010. Current model is SR7012, with an extra streaming option in HEOS, but basically the same amp and DAC configuration. I enjoy the SQ from it’s AKM DAC, and it has beefy Class A/B amps. I have run all nine channels via it’s amps before, and it did fine, though I did add a 5 channel external amp when I got the T Ref’s.

I gotta’ say I agree with Wayne, that upgrading the fronts to T2+’s would be a huge leap in clarity and dynamics. They have the newest balanced crossover technology and redesigned speakers. And talk about amp upgrades, each has a 1,200 w amp for the bass section.

Rick
5.4.4 HT speakers: T Ref fronts/LFE 1, SuperCenter Ref, T1 surrounds/LFE 2, HTR 7000 top fronts, Invisa 525 top rears
Zone 2 speakers; 2 Invisa 525's
AVR: Marantz SR 7010
Amps: AT525NC 5 channel, Parasound 275 v.2 stereo
Cable/TiVo, OPPO BDP 105D, Bluesound Node 2i
47" Panasonic 3D smart tv

I was actually recommending a DAC, not an amp. This is a decent list: www.themasterswitch.com/best-dacs
Testing with a budget friendly DAC like a mojo or iFi micro will show you what you’ll get. Naim and Chord make solid products. I have an older Fostex hpa-8c which sounds fantastic, and can be had for $3-400.

Check your local dealer to see if they’ll let you overnight trial one. DON’T trial the T2+ ‘s ... you won’t want to return them! ;)
Triton Two front L/R
SuperSat 50c center
Triton Seven surround L/R
SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R
AVR Marantz sr6005
Amp Marantz mm7025
DAC Fostex HP-A8C
Velodyne optimum 10” sealed, back left corner
Velodyne 8” sealed, front right corner

Thanks everyone.

Anthem has a great promotion going on right now. They're offering a minimum of 20% trade-in credit toward their receivers if you bring in your equipment. My local dealer is giving me the 20% plus another $100 off toward the Anthem MRX720.

From everything I've read, this is a big improvement over my Denon x4100. The ARC room correction alone should be significant, plus the improved amp, high wattage, etc. I'm excited to hear how it sounds.

I think I'll settle on this for now, and then look to upgrade the Triton 7s with the 2+ in the future.

Thoughts?

Thanks again!
