Just received new One.R’s. When I ran Audyessy I got the expected deep whomp sound from the left speaker, but the right speaker sounded more like the center channel with no deep whomp sound. Marantz 8802a recommended they be set to small. Do I have a problem?

Does the blue LED come on with the one speaker? Can you hear bass from that one speaker when you play it?

Speaker is plugged in, blue light on and is producing sound. Switched speakers around and got same result from Audyessy. Not a speaker problem. After speaker calibration Marantz AV8802a wants to set them to small as well as Triton two’s for rear surrounds. Manually set fronts to large, but won’t let me set the rear surrounds to large. Gives me only two options, small or none.

Hi Fred

Hah! Never saw a room correction system tell you what you can’t do before! I could never get a result from Audyssey that made SQ better. Actually did a re set on my receiver to cancel.

I would over ride that however you need to and set all Triton towers to large if I were you.

No clue why Audyssey can’t decipher built in subs on GEt powered towers, but as long as I’ve tried, it really can’t.

Still love the system you’ve set up!

Just manually set them up. I can choose small/large this way with my marantz receiver.

SuperSat 50c center
Triton Seven surround L/R
SuperSat 50 surround rear L/R
AVR Marantz sr6005
Amp Marantz mm7025
DAC Fostex HP-A8C
Velodyne optimum 10” sealed, back left corner
Velodyne 8” sealed, front right corner

Timecop gave the best answer re using manual speaker set-up to set whatever you want for small vs large, distances etc.

If you do use Audyssey as a first step, you can also go in afterward to manual set-up and change any settings you want such as small to large. My Marantz, like I think Timecop’s, is set exclusively via manual set-up, using a dB meter for sound leveling, measuring tape for distances etc. I pretty much have transitioned from any Audyssey settings to my own via manual set up.

I listened over time to music with Audyssey on and off and just found I liked the manual adjustments best, Audyssey off.

Whatever works best for you.
