I was under the impression that it was speaker or LFE cable input that triggered the amps to go on also. Maybe you heard GoldenEar's answer correctly, and i.e. EITHER cable input OR mid range driver movement will trigger the amps on? That's a new one I hadn't heard before, but may be it's a built in redundancy? Might be worth a follow up conversation with GEt.

That's what I think, too. If the driver gets pushed by external sound from the other system, it acts as a generator and produces a signal. The circuitry detects that and turns on. That's my educated guess.

If the amp powers up, the circuit detects that and powers up.

So, both. My guess the vibration power up is just an accident. I don't think it does any harm.
