Hello Wayne and thank you for the reply. My room isn't that large and my television stand does not have internal space for a SuperCenter unfortunately. The compartments are just wide enough to fit standard A/V components. Maybe I should research getting a new stand... will think about it.

I cannot speak to cats and speakers, but I can agree to the MAX about the wonderful HVFR tweeters we are all enjoying, they are the cat's meow, IF I might make a joke.
I have my SC X in a cabinet, with just over an inch plus open above the top of the speaker, and it works/sounds great. A cat could get to the front but not the top.
Wish this would help, but LOTS of people are enjoying these fine speakers without problems.
God Bless,
Wayne

Sayersweb,

A new AV stand is a relatively small investment in the big scheme of things. I think a new stand with a SCXL or SCXXL would be a great investment! I made mine from raw materials for a very reasonable cost. Food for thought.

Cheers,

Sayersweb:

Just wanted to expound my animal statement. I love cats and dogs, I've owned both. I'm in the carpet, upholstery, water, fire, and smoke restoration business. On average, I'm in 900 homes per year. The majority of these homes have cats, dogs, or both. In 37 years, I don't believe I've ever seen a home that was not damaged in some way by pets. The urination of both cats and dogs has skyrocketed through the years. The wife and have been wanting a small dog for quite some time, and have been waiting for Mohawk carpets to come out with their DNA/Engineered stain protection with Oder blocker Technology, but it hasn't come out yet. Lately I been seeing an abnormal amount of pet damage, even in high end homes...it gets old after awhile. I've told the wife we aren't getting a dog, just way to many problems. When I come home, I want a home free of urine, feces, vomit, and hair.

Anthem, I would say you are like the police and you only see the worst. Hard job. If you learn how to be (and why to be) alpha in your pack, dogs are very easy to control and be the best experience you may ever have. But so many do not even know or understand their pet and how to properly interact with them. Those are the messes you clean up. ;)

I certainly understand everyones' points here. We all want our homes to be our castles and it really is about what's right for you. My dogs are pretty well trained and are far less destructive than children... Nothing is harder on a home than kids but we all make sacrifices for family: whether that's children or pets.

Cheers,

T Cobe

I've been looking for a stand, no more than 60", that can accommodate a SuperCenter with a couple of inches of clearance above, and accommodate the ATI-2505 amplifier (250 watts x 5, all channels driven), the amp weighs over 100 pounds and is approx. 9" tall which makes it very difficult to accommodate since it needs a little clearance above. It is a beast and the most limiting factor, but is is a beautiful beast.

I wonder how negatively impacted the sound is by having a SuperCenter set on a middle shelf (as opposed to being on a top shelf). Wish there was a quantifiable way to know the difference. Obviously, it would mostly be the bass that is effected, but the bass is why I want the SuperCenter instead of the SuperSat. My current soundbar is a Definitive Tech Mythos SSA-50. I wonder if Sandy designed the Mythos. I fear the SuperSat will be somewhat similar in sound, and to be honest, the Mythos has been so disappointing, dreadfully so. I do not like small enclosure speakers, they sound so small to my ears.

That is why I am now considering the Triton Twos as L/Rs even though it means it will be extra time before I can afford. I need to hear them, have only demoed the Sevens and Fives at the shop, and the Sevens extensively at my sister's house. I have yet to find speakers that match the big sound (oomph) of the Infinity Kappas... actually I call them Kappas, but they were actually the CS-3009s which were a special series sold at a large American chain store. I had them for more than 20 years.

I love my cats and this is my fourth owned home with cats. In the previous three home sales, nothing was ever required to be fixed/replaced/or even cleaned because of them... just a little vacuuming before listing the house.
