Triton Two Tower Overview
The sleek 48” tall Triton Two (left) is a high-performance loudspeaker with a built-in powered subwoofer. The Triton Two Tower is engineered for superb performance in both high quality two channel stereo systems as well as in multi-channel home theater and music systems. The sleek, elegantly curved and tapered design is not only gorgeous but is important from a performance perspective as well.
The subwoofer section is powered by a 1200 watt GoldenEar designed ForceField Digital Amplifier. The amplifier’s DSP design not only yields extremely linear and low distortion response, but also dynamically controls operating parameters for optimum performance. The amp drives two 5”x 9” front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers which are coupled to dual side-mounted 7”x10” quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. The result is awe-inspiring bass, which delivers both musical subtlety as well as room-shaking authority.
The advantages of building the subwoofers into the Tritons are many. First, of course, this eliminates the need for additional bulky subwoofer boxes in the room. But more important are the performance advantages. By engineering the subwoofer as an integral part to the speaker, we get far superior integration and blending than can be achieved with separate subwoofers, even when using two. The two subwoofers in a pair of Tritons couple better to the air in the room, helping to better deal with the room's eigenmodes and smooth out response. Of course, the dual subwoofers are also intrinsically more powerful and couple together synergistically for more truly exceptional bass. Hookup is as simple as just speaker wire, and there is a separate LFE input if desired.
There are two cast-basket upper bass/midrange drivers, which incorporate GoldenEar’s proprietary Multi-Vaned Phase Plug (MVPP™) as well as a computer optimized cone design. They are arranged in a D’Appolito array surrounding the tweeter, an extraordinary new High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) design. The HVFR tweeter propagates sound waves and moves the air by squeezing it with its accordion-like pleated diaphragm, rather than pushing it as conventional drivers do. With its sleek, narrow 5.25” wide baffle, the Triton Two’s sophisticated look not only blends with any décor, but also helps the speaker create truly magnificent 3D imaging with tremendous depth, height and width that extends well beyond the loudspeakers themselves. As with all GoldenEar speakers, development work is conducted at our Arnprior engineering facility utilizing our full-size anechoic chamber, which is an exact duplicate of the chamber at the NRC in Ottawa Canada, in combination with intense critical listening.
The Triton Two Tower is finished with an elegant black designer cloth and piano-black base.
Triton Three Tower Overview
GoldenEar’s Triton Two Tower clearly set the audio world on its proverbial ear with extraordinary sound quality, elegant styling and previously unimaginable value. It has earned an incredible series of rave reviews and industry accolades from around the world — including more than a few Speaker and Audio Product of the Year honors and awards. Now we are adding a spectacular followup, the Triton Three, which incorporates the same advanced technologies and delivers state-of- the-art performance remarkably similar to its big brother.
The Triton Three is literally a smaller version of the award-winning Triton Two. It is the perfect solution for listeners looking for a more compact loudspeaker that offers equally superb performance for both high-quality two-channel systems as well as in multi-channel home theater and music systems when paired with our perfectly-matched SuperSat 3 and SuperSat 50C. Its sleek, elegantly curved and tapered design mirrors the award winning styling of the Triton Two with its beautiful marriage of piano-gloss black and designer-fabric-covered surfaces.
Like the Two, the Triton Three incorporates the built-in powered subwoofer technology first pioneered by GoldenEar principals Sandy Gross and Don Givogue. In this case, there is an integral 800-watt digital/DSP controlled power amp driving an active front-mounted long-throw 5" x 9" quadratic subwoofer driver. This is coupled to two opposing, inertially balanced 6.75" x 8" quadratic planar infrasonic passive radiators which are located on the sides, near the floor, in order to take full advantage of boundary coupling. There is one of the same 4.5" high-definition cast basket MVPP™ drivers as used in the Two, along with the same GoldenEar signature High Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter.
Performance-wise, the Triton Three delivers the same boxless three-dimensional imaging as the Triton Two, which reviewers have hailed as “mystical”, “magical” — and, best summed up by the dramatic, “had us believing that the entire surface of the front wall was covered with speakers.” Likewise, the powerful, deep subwoofer bass blends perfectly with the silky smooth, utterly transparent midrange and high frequencies, putting many dramatically more expensive speakers to shame.
The new Triton Seven brings Speaker-of-the-Year Award winning Triton Series performance into a more compact size and even more affordable price range. GoldenEar’s Triton Towers have set new performance and value standards all around the world. The new Triton Seven follows in this auspicious tradition. Although it is the first Triton Tower without a built-in powered subwoofer, it still achieves superbly deep, subwoofer-like impactful bass performance by combining advanced technology drivers with our highly evolved and sophisticated bass-loading technologies.
The Seven’s unique cabinet shape is both acoustically purposeful as well as strikingly attractive. Its stylish rearward rake, in conjunction with the complex crossover, both aligns the driver array precisely for a coherent wave-launch directed at ear level at the listening position, as well as results in non-parallel front and rear baffles for better control of internal standing waves. And, of course, the non-parallel side cabinet walls and slanted top provide the same acoustical performance benefit, as well as looking great. The Seven’s precise and totally boxless imaging characteristics are further enhanced by the narrow front baffle, as well as the diffractionless designer grille cloth sock which adds additional sheer damping to the cabinet. In addition, the beautifully sculpted piano-gloss black base adds significantly to the Seven’s dynamic stability.
Like the signature Triton Two, the Seven combines a D’Appolito array of bass midrange drivers, which surround the same, now famous, High Velocity Folded Ribbon Driver (HVFR™), used in both the Triton Two and Three. The HVFR™ tweeter functions by pressurizing the air, rather than pushing and pulling it, for much better impedance matching with the air. This results in superb extension combined with a silky smooth non-fatiguing character, which is both unique and extraordinary. The spiderleg cast-basket 5.25” bass/midrange drivers, newly developed at our Arnprior, Canada engineering facility, have been specifically designed for exceptionally long-throw for tremendous dynamic range and extraordinarily deep bass response.
In addition, their precisely curved cone combined with a specially formulated polypropylene cone material and unique apical glue bonding technique delivers superb high-definition midrange clarity and presence. Like the two larger Tritons, the Seven incorporates 2 side-mounted sub-bass radiators that are located on either side of the cabinet down near the floor for optimum coupling to the room. The Triton Seven’s high-resolution sonic performance makes it perfect for the highest quality two channel systems as well as the best multi-channel music and home theater systems.

TritonCinema Recommended System Components
The TritonCinema systems consist of a pair of Triton towers, one or two ForceField Subwoofers (built-in on TritonCinema Two and Three systems), a SuperSat or SuperCenter Center Channel and two or four SuperSat 3 Surrounds/Rears. Any of the Invisa in-wall/in-ceiling models are also perfect as Surround/Rear speakers. Space permitting, large systems can even use Triton Towers as surrounds or larger SuperSat models. Also, if desired, you can certainly add additional subwoofers, although the Triton Two's and Triton Three's built-in subs are more than adequate for most installations. See the list of popular system options below.
GoldenEar engineers voice all of our speakers to the same high standards, perfectly complementing and matching each other in order to give you the greatest flexibility in creating your system, so you can mix and match and always achieve perfect results!CENTER CHANNELS
