Triton Tower Speakers Overview

The Triton Series Tower Speakers are high-performance loudspeakers, with the top four models including a built-in powered subwoofer. All the Triton Towers are engineered for superb performance in both high quality two channel stereo systems as well as in multi-channel home theater and music systems. Their sleek, elegantly curved and tapered design is not only gorgeous but is important from a performance perspective as well. Performance-wise, the Triton Towers all deliver boxless three-dimensional imaging, which reviewers have hailed as "mystical""magical" - and, best summed up by the dramatic, "had us believing that the entire surface of the front wall was covered with speakers.". Likewise, the powerful, deep subwoofer bass blends perfectly with the silky smooth, utterly transparent midrange and high frequencies, putting many dramatically more expensive speakers to shame.

The powered subwoofer sections in each Triton Reference, Triton One.R, Two+ and Three+ incorporate a high power GoldenEar digital amplifier. The amplifier’s DSP design not only yields extremely linear and low distortion response, but also dynamically controls operating parameters for optimum performance. The amp drives up to three front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers which are coupled to multiple side-mounted quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. The result is awe-inspiring bass, which delivers both musical subtlety as well as room-shaking authority. The advantages of building the subwoofers into the Tritons are many. First, of course, this eliminates the need for additional subwoofer boxes in the room. But more important are the performance advantages. By engineering the subwoofer as an integral part to the speaker, we get far superior integration and blending than can be achieved with separate subwoofers, even when using two. The two subwoofers in a pair of Tritons couple better to the air in the room, helping to better deal with the room's eigenmodes and smooth out response. Of course, the dual subwoofers are also intrinsically more powerful and couple together synergistically for more truly exceptional bass.

The hallmark of all GoldenEar speakers, the Triton Tower Speakers all utilize our High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter design. The HVFR tweeter propagates sound waves and moves the air by squeezing it with its accordion-like pleated diaphragm, rather than pushing it as conventional drivers do. Greater efficiency, lower distortion, improved dynamics and superbly detailed sound are the result of this amazing technology. And every Triton Tower utilizes our amazing spider-leg, cast-basket mid/bass drivers with proprietary computer optimized cone design that assures smooth, extended response.

The Triton Towers’ striking, but harmoniously minimalist design, can fit nicely into a great variety of decors while going almost unnoticed. Their narrow baffle creates a sleek, sophisticated look that also helps the speakers create truly magnificent 3D imaging with tremendous depth, height, and width extending well beyond the loudspeakers themselves. The Triton Two+, Three+, Five, and Seven Towers are beautifully finished with a simple black cloth and piano-black base and top cap.

Visually, the flagship Triton Reference and the Triton One.R offer a strikingly beautiful upgrade to the classic Triton styling, with a gorgeous hand-rubbed piano gloss-black lacquer finished one-piece monocoque cabinet. Sleek, statuesque, and refined, the Triton Reference is simply a gorgeous statement piece that will excite listeners with its dynamic visual presence, as well as its extraordinary sonic performance. Click here, or the Reference tab above, for information on the Triton Reference. As with all GoldenEar speakers, development work is conducted at our engineering facility in Arnprior, Canada, utilizing our full-size anechoic chamber — an exact duplicate of the chamber at the NRC in Ottawa Canada — in combination with intense critical listening.

Triton Reference

Triton Reference

US MSRP $12,500.00/pair

CA MSRP $15,000.00/pair

The Triton Reference is an evolution of all we’ve learned so far, taken to a stunning level of sonic performance and sophisticated visual design. All the components are specifically developed for use in the Reference, including the fully-balanced and the powerful subwoofer amplifier and 56-bit DSP control unit.

The 6˝ upper/bass/midrange drivers incorporate a low-mass voice coil and cone with unique low-mass bonding to the butyl rubber surround for improved transient response. The 6˝x10˝ active low-frequency drivers for the built-in powered subwoofers have 40% more surface area than the active drivers used in other Tritons. The Reference High-Velocity Folded-Ribbon tweeter incorporates 50% more rare-earth neodymium magnet material than do our non-Reference HVFR tweeters, for improved transient response and higher efficiency. The four inertially balanced 10.5˝x 9.5˝ side-mounted (two on each side), planar, infrasonic radiators are similar to those used in the SuperSub X, but have been retooled to allow for even greater excursion.

The Reference has been engineered to perform with a dramatic and authoritative voice, comparable to speakers many times its surprisingly affordable price. They completely disappear, with superb three-dimensional imaging that stretches from wall to wall and beyond. Tremendous time and energy has been put into the voicing of the speaker and the seamless blending of the drivers, for unmatched musicality with all types of music, and home theater perfection. Rarely do speakers excel at both, but with their world-class neutrality, the Reference absolutely does.. Click here to read the Triton Reference Brochure.

Best Tower Speakers

Triton One.R Tower Speakers

US MSRP $7,990.00/pair

CA MSRP $10,000.00/pair

The Triton One.R is an extraordinary reference quality loudspeaker that is a smaller, less expensive follow up to our award winning flagship, the Triton Reference. The 54" tall Triton One.R's upgraded technology includes a 56 bit DSP engine for the powered sub, a fully balanced crossover design, high-end film capacitors, advanced cabinet design, and much more. The Triton One.R's built-in subwoofer section is powered by a 1600 watt GoldenEar SuperSub digital amplifier. The amp drives three racetrack shaped active subwoofer drivers with huge magnet structures, coupled to dual (per side) side-mounted 7" x 10" quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators to extend the low frequency response. These are inertially balanced (two on each side) in order to minimize cabinet movement, for more detailed sound. The two 5.25” upper bass/midrange drivers with GoldenEar’s proprietary Multi-Vaned Phase Plug (MVPP™), incorporating a cone utilizing a special formulation of polypropylene and focused field magnet structure developed for the Triton Reference. The drivers are housed in dual discreet midrange chambers, arranged in a D’Appolito array surrounding the extraordinary GoldenEar Reference High-Gauss High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter, the same as used in the Triton Reference. This design incorporates 50% more neodymium magnet material than previous units, for higher efficiency and greater control.

The gorgeous cabinet is painstakingly finished in a hand-rubbed piano black lacquer. It presents itself as an exquisite, sleek, ultra-high-performance lifestyle loudspeaker that delivers extraordinary sound quality comparable with speakers selling for many times the Triton One.R’s remarkably affordable price. Click here to read the Brochure.

Triton Two+ Tower Speakers

US MSRP $5,500.00/pair

CA MSRP $7,200.00/pair

GoldenEar’s Triton Two Tower clearly set the audio world on its proverbial ear with extraordinary sound quality, elegant styling and previously unimaginable value. It has earned an incredible series of rave reviews and industry accolades from around the world — including more than a few Speaker of the Year and Audio Product of the Year honors and awards. "Listening with them paralleled previous encounters with no-holds-barred speakers - ones priced upwards of $50,000.", raved Al Griffin of Sound & Vision.

The sleek, 48" tall Triton Two+ incorporates many of the technologies and refinements developed for the Triton One, including: a fully balanced crossover design, high-end film capacitors, redesigned midrange/upper-bass drivers, and a reprogrammed DSP. Its built-in subwoofer section is powered by a 1200 watt GoldenEar ForceField digital amplifier driving two 5" x 9" front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers coupled to dual opposing side-mounted, inertially-balanced, 7" x 10" quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. The two 4-1/2" spider-leg cast-basket midrange/upper bass drivers, which incorporate GoldenEar’s proprietary Multi-Vaned Phase Plug (MVPP™) design, are housed in dual discreet chambers arranged in a D’Appolito array surrounding GoldenEar’s extraordinary High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter design. The Triton Two's dynamic, effortless, you-are-there clarity will almost literally put the live performance or action right into your home, or conversely, put you into the concert hall or the live action on the screen. Click here to read the Brochure.

best floor standing speakers

Triton Three+ Tower Speakers

US MSRP $3,600.00/pair

CA MSRP $4,700.00/pair

The Triton Three+ incorporates the same advanced technologies and delivers state-of-the-art performance remarkably similar to its bigger brothers. The Triton Three+ is literally a smaller version of the award-winning Triton One and Triton Two+. It is the perfect solution for listeners looking for a more compact loudspeaker that offers equally superb performance for both high-quality two-channel systems as well as in multi-channel home theater and music systems.

Like the Triton Two+, the Triton Three+ incorporates technologies developed for the Triton One. Its built-in powered subwoofer (a technology first pioneered by GoldenEar principals Sandy Gross and Don Givogue) includes an integral 800 watt GoldenEar ForceField digital/DSP controlled power amp driving an active front-mounted long-throw 5" x 9" quadratic subwoofer driver. This is coupled to two opposing, inertially balanced 6-3/4" x 8" quadratic planar infrasonic passive radiators which are located on the sides, near the floor, in order to take full advantage of boundary coupling. There is one of the same 4.5" high-definition spider-leg, cast-basket MVPP™ drivers as used in the Triton Two+, along with the same GoldenEar signature High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter. Performance-wise, the Triton Three+ delivers the same boxless three-dimensional imaging as the bigger Tritons. Likewise, the powerful, deep subwoofer bass blends perfectly with the silky smooth, utterly transparent midrange and high frequencies, putting many dramatically more expensive speakers to shame. Click here to read the Brochure.

Triton Five Tower Speakers

US MSRP $3,000.00/pair

CA MSRP $3,900.00/pair

The Triton Five is a larger version of the Award Winning Triton Seven, with greater dynamic range and even deeper bass extension, plus important refinements carried over from the Triton One development program. As with all of our Triton Towers, the Triton Five’s high-resolution sonic performance makes it ideal for use in two channel systems of the highest quality, as well as complete multi-channel surround music and home theater systems. “They absolutely rock the speaker world’s foundation to the core … delivering the kind of musical bliss some pay upwards of $10,000 for”, raves Caleb Denison of Digital Trends.

The Five’s unique cabinet shape is both acoustically purposeful as well as strikingly attractive. Its narrow front baffle and stylish rearward rake, in conjunction with the complex crossover, both aligns the driver array precisely for a coherent wave-launch directed at ear level at the listening position, as well as results in non-parallel front and rear baffles for better control of internal standing waves. And, the non-parallel side cabinet walls and slanted top provide the same acoustical performance benefit.

A D’Appolito array of two 6" long-throw midrange/bass drivers surround the same High Velocity Folded Ribbon Tweeter (HVFR™) used in all the Triton Towers. The Five incorporates FOUR side-mounted, opposing, inertially-balanced planar sub-bass radiators, located on either side of the cabinet down near the floor for optimum coupling to the room. And the Fives will deliver exceptional performance with moderately priced receivers, while also allowing you to appreciate the subtle qualities of the world’s finest audio components. Click here to read the Brochure.

Triton Seven Tower Speakers

US MSRP $2,200.00/pair

CA MSRP $2,900.00/pair

The Triton Seven brings Speaker-of-the-Year Award winning Triton Series tower speakers’ performance into a more compact size and even more affordable price range. Although it is the first Triton Tower without a built-in powered subwoofer, it still achieves superbly deep, subwoofer-like impactful bass performance by combining advanced drivers with our highly evolved and sophisticated bass-loading technologies. Mike Mettler of Sound&Vision called the Triton Seven a “real reference speaker for $1400 a pair...they’ll likely become your next reference speakers, just as they've become mine”.

Like the Five, the Seven’s strikingly attractive and acoustically purposeful cabinet provides the same performance benefits, as well as looking great. The Seven’s precise and totally boxless imaging characteristics are further enhanced by the narrow front baffle. A complex Linkwitz/Riley crossover perfectly blends the D'Appolito Arrayed twin 5-1/4" cast basket bass/midrange drivers specifically designed for exceptionally long-throw, for tremendous dynamic range and extraordinarily deep bass response. These surround the same signature High Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR™) tweeter for high-resolution reproduction of both music and cinema. And dual side-mounted inertially-balanced, planar sub-bass radiators deliver impactful, superbly detailed, subwoofer-quality bass performance. The Triton Seven’s high-resolution sonic performance makes it perfect for the highest quality two channel systems as well as the best multi-channel music and home theater systems. Click here to read the Brochure.

TritonCinema Recommended System Components

The TritonCinema systems consist of a pair of Triton towers, one or two ForceField Subwoofers (built-in on TritonCinema One.R, Two+ and Three+ systems), a SuperSat or SuperCenter Center Channel, two or four SuperSat 3 Surrounds/Rears, and two to four Invisa in-ceiling models for Atmos Height channels. And, any of the Invisa in-wall/in-ceiling models are also perfect as Surround/Rear speakers. Space permitting, large systems can even use Triton Towers as surrounds or larger SuperSat models. Also, if desired, you can certainly add additional subwoofers, although the Triton Reference's, Triton One's, Two+'s and Three+'s built-in subs are more than adequate for most installations.

GoldenEar engineers voice all of our speakers to the same high standards, perfectly complementing and matching each other in order to give you the greatest flexibility in creating your system, so you can mix and match and always achieve perfect results!
